Have some questions?

Let’s see if we can answer them for you.

We’d also like to make it known that our Discord Server is a public space welcome to all, not just our pilots and staff. Please accept our invitation to join us there if you have a more specific or otherwise unsatisfied question(s.)

What modules or software do I need to join the 163rd vFS?

  • The latest STANDALONE (non-Steam) release of DCS World OpenBeta

  • DCS SimpleRadio (SRS)

  • DCS: A-10C II

  • DCS: Nevada Training & Test Range (NTTR)

What time does the 163rd vFS usually fly?

Our primary weekly flight time is Sunday evening at 7:00PM Eastern. Additional operations can be scheduled via the “ops board” function of our Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS). You simply catalog your availability there, and other pilots with similar availability can coordinate a sortie. Additionally, we often have ad hoc flights coordinated on Discord.

How long does it take to complete the training pipeline?

The traditional fighter pilot answer applies here - it depends. The largest factor is your availability. On average, flying once a week, you can achieve CMR status in approximately 2-3 months. Other factors such as initial pipeline placement and skills that need additional refinement before moving to the next subject also factor into how long it will take.

Why do you only accept Americans?

Some of our pilots and staff have real world jobs requiring that they do not interact with foreign nationals.
